A one day conference on the impact of disruptive technologies on the GI industry hosted by the AGI Northern Group (#AGI_NG) and the Centre for Spatial Analysis and Policy (CSAP). A series of short presentations from a range of people on the cutting edge of GI science answering the questions we all have of the impact of Web2.0 on GIS: 'what is all the fuss about?' 'but does anyone actually use this stuff for real?' and 'where is this going?'
If you need answers to these questions, come along. Registration will be via the AGI website.
Speakers include Tim Warr, Ed Parsons (Google), Gary Gale (Yahoo!), Chris Osborn (ITO World), Harry Wood (CloudMade), Jo Cook (OSGeo) and John Fagan (Microsoft) as well as many more. We are especially pleased to announce key note presentations given by Prof. Henk Scholtan (Geodan) and Dr. Michael Sanderson (1Spatial).
Space is strictly limited to 100 - so get your tickets now!
Almost certainly will attend, will confirm soon.
There is a possibility that this event will move to the 10th to remove a conflict with another AGI event. Confirmation will be posted ASAP.
Speakers for #AGI_NG Conference confirmed so far I really pleased to be able to announce that we have: - Gary Gale, Chief Spatial Technologist @ Yahoo! ( http://www.vicchi.org/ ) - Jo Cook, Senior IT Support and Development Officer @ Oxford Archaeology and official representative of the UK Chapter of OSGeo ( http://www.archaeogeek.com/blog/ ) [Jo - update your status!] - Chris Osborne @ ITO World and founder of #Geomob ( http://www.cloudsourced.com/feed/ ) - Stuart Harrison @ Litchfield Council ( http://www.pezholio.co.uk/ ) - Chris Parker @ GeoVation ( http://www.geovation.org.uk/ ) - John McKarrel @ MapMe.at ( http://blog.mapme.at/ ) - Richard Kingston @ University of Manchester ( http://www.ppgis.manchester.ac.uk/ - Andy Hudson-Smith @ CASA ( http://digitalurban.blogspot.com/ ) and others to confirm in the coming weeks! UPDATE: The conference is now confirmed for the 10th November. In addition I am really pleased to be able to confirm that one of our key note presentations will be from Prof. Henk Scholten of Geodan. Prof. Scholtan recieved in July the "ESRI Lifetime Achievement Award" at the User Conference in San Diego. A central figure to the development of the GI industry, he is uniquely positioned to place the recent trends of 'neo' geography in their true context. I can't wait to hear what he's got to say about it all!
If you want to stay up to date with developments for the conference, please sign up to our LinkedIn Group: AGINorthGroup: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?homeNewMember=&gid=1862612 and share the knowledge - let others know! Thanks.
Harry Wood of Cloudmade & OSM has been blogging on the event - cheers Harry! http://www.harrywood.co.uk/blog/feed/
