Every year 200,000 people world wide pass away from a malignant braintumor. In The Netherlands that is some 1,000 to 1,500 every year. The average life expectancy is about 15 months. Last month senator Kenedey died from a braintumor. Dispite the seriousness of this form of cancer, no serious progress has been made in the last 30 years in treating this illness. The foundation STOPhersentumoren.nl wants to change this.

Therefore on August 28, 2010 a team of supporters will climb the Alpe d'Huez by kickbike. We are targeting to gather a team of some 300 kickbikers that will gather at least eur 450,000. This is the average cost for one serious research project.

One month after the start of the planning of this event we have some 30 kickbikers and some eur 12,000 in sponsors. We 11 months of preparation to go we are confident of our success: climbing Alpe d'Huez, generating a lot of attention, making our sponsoring target and get braintumor research going.
