I wish I could attend this - unfortunately, being unemployed (or semi-self employed) - the price tag is a little out of my league. Maybe someday there will be "scholarships" to AU. ;)
I've attending the last 4 years, but this year I don't know if it will be possible, it's still too early to tell if it's in the budget. It is of great benefit I hope to be able to attend.
I intend to go, but the cost is an obstacle to overcome.
I would like to present, I have 30 days to decide.
The price tag has to be lowered considerably. Autodesk's business is not affected by the economic situation, and it would be very nice of them to give something back to its loyal customers. If I go, I will drive (from Chicago) and will look for "carpoolers" :D
I have attended (2) tears in a row. Although attending every year would seem like a good idea, the price tag is kind of rediculous. Does AUGI have something like a regional Revit bootcamp? I don't see the necessity of the Las Vegas location either. They should hold AU in a location that really could use the help, like New Orleans.
I am not attending because of the costs Linda Neuhaus
Anthony, they use Las Vegas because its one of the few venues that can hold a convention of approx. 9,000 individuals easily with that many break-out rooms for simultaneous events. AUGI does not have a regional bootcamp, but they do have CAD camps each year in more local locations.
Basam, Actually, Autodesk HAS been effected by the economic situation. At one point Autodesk stock was in the 50's (2 years ago), it fell into the low teens earlier this year. It's around 18 today (actually up) due to the recent release of the AutoCAD line of products.
Basam, Compared to similar conferences I think AU is good value, and I have to come halfway around the world to attend. Microsoft one near me is similar cost but 1 day shorter and does not include accommodation...
I thought it was a fantastic event two years ago. Although I missed last year due to some economic turbulence, I am looking forward to going this year for sure. It's a good value and there is a ton of information to absorb if you're really interested in learning.
Hoping things turn around this year so I can attend!
Despite the global economic crisis, an event like AU is very important to meet people, including employers and employees, because everyone there speaks the same language, CAD, and it is a great opportunity to breath knowledge and hope. If its price is considered expensive for the Americans, you can imagine how is expensive for us, Brazillians, because due money currency exchange, its costs is multiplied by 2.5 for us, without airplane tickets (US$ 700,00 to go from Sao Paulo to Las Vegas and another US$ 700,00 to came back). But, I hope to attend it because I want to take AutoCAD Certification exams for AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD Architecture 2010. And If one or more of my course proposals were accepted, I would like very much to teach at AU 2009.
In need of group dining, extra meeting space or a great venue during the convention- in line with current economic times and pricing? Red Square, China Grill, Rumjungle- at Mandalay Bay! Contact me, I can make it happen: Lesley TerBorg, 702.632.6907; or LTerborg@mandalaybay.com
Voting is now open.…… Autodesk has opened voting for all of the proposed classes at the next AU; use the following URL to login and vote for the classes you would like to see at the next AU. http://au.autodesk.com/?nd=au_voting_login Lonnie Cumpton
Voting for AU 2009 classes is not closed. A total of 20,002 votes were cast for 1551 proposals submitted. Speakers will be notified by mid June. Our editorial staff will review accepted session and we hope to publish session catalog in late July.
...make the NOW in place of NOT (did not see a way to edit comment)
AU is a great opportunity, without a doubt! I encourage everyone who is considering attending to do so. The networking, keynotes, and classes are all top notch, and as Antonio points out, the importance of an event like AU cannot be under-estimated in this economy. The Autodesk team does a fantastic job in making sure the classes are relevant and timely.
