Birmingham is a city of innovation and re-invention. The home of the industrial revolution which was once "the workshop of the world" is re-inventing itself again in the wake of the technological revolution.
The 'Big City Plan' will shape and revitalise Birmingham's city centre over the next twenty years, putting the city's sustainability, culture, creativity, technology and enterprise at the heart of its future plans, activities and development. This masterplan will create a greener, smarter, fairer and more appealing city centre, increasing the employment, training and leisure opportunities for future generations. It is a transformation that will benefit local people, visitors and businesses through the creation of an attractive, safe and prosperous city centre for all.
To celebrate the launch of the 'Big City Plan' the Royal Institute of British Architects, local building materials supplier EH Smith and the owners of a number of West Midlands based brickworks, Weinerberger, have joined forces to arrange a one day event looking at the past, present and future of Britains' second city.
