The main challenge ahead of banks is to be able to meet its clients obligations at all times, this means that liquidity managers have to make sure that there is enough liquid assets to meet customer’s obligations. A fundamental part of liquidity management and one of treasury activities is risk management. Effective risk management is crucial for banks to be able to raise cash at a reasonable cost when it’s necessary.
