The current financial crisis has proven that nothing destroys banking organisations faster than the lack of liquidity. As soon as a bank is not able to meet its client’s obligations it collapses, the depositors no longer trust the management and banks capability to provide funds on all calls. The main challenge ahead of banks is to be able to meet its clients obligations at all times, this means that liquidity managers have to make sure that there is enough liquid assets to meet customer’s obligations. A fundamental part of liquidity management and one of treasury activities is risk management. Effective risk management is crucial for banks to be able to raise cash at a reasonable cost when it’s necessary. Other pressing issues for treasurers, liquidity managers, and asset and liability managers in banks in CEE are implementation of Basel II, reviewing stress scenarios and discovering new funding strategies.

The forum will examine the key issues of the current trends in ALM and liquidity management in banks in CEE. This is a launch event, following success of our financial conferences we have decided to create an exclusive one day event focusing on the latest trends in ALM and liquidity management in CEE.
