Current DFW design industry unemployment rate tops 45% in the metro area

DALLAS – Rising unemployment rates in the architecture and design industries has prompted CareerConnection’s Architecture+Design Career Management Group to take action by hosting a Professional Showcase to be held on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Decorative Center Dallas on Hi Line Drive, in the heart of the downtown design district.

A current estimate of the unemployment rate among DFW architecture and design professionals is over 45%. The Architecture + Interior Design Professional Showcase will be a chance for under-employed and “pre-employed” individuals seeking positions in the architecture, interior design and design sales-related fields the opportunity to mingle and network with other professionals as well as the chance to see the showrooms of several prominent industry leaders.

Persons interested in attending the event should be ready for a “meet and greet” opportunity with top DFW architecture and interior design firms. There will be a chance to submit résumés and business cards to firms for potential career opportunities in the future.

The architecture and interior design industry has produced many milestones for the community over the years, including the creation of Dallas’s famed skyline. Now the focus is on the future of these professionals and the industry at large. The event will highlight DFW design firms who are looking to the future and the growth of these companies.

“Our industry has had a very tough year in 2009, but we are optimistic for 2010,” said Ernesto Miranda, Chair of the Leadership Committee of CareerConnection’s A+D Career Management Group organizing the event.“We are organizing this event to give a “shot in the arm” to the design industry for future employment opportunities.”
