“Engage and Give” - Charity Silent Auction benefiting Towards Employment

Please plan to attend CSHRM’s annual charity silent auction event. All proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Towards Employment, a nonprofit agency based in Cleveland. After months of economic turbulence and intense employment challenges, it is more important than ever to engage Cleveland’s workforce. CSHRM has selected Towards Employment because they are dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through employment. Towards Employment has a long-standing history of accomplishments and impressive services including having assisted over 100,000 disadvantaged adults to transition off of welfare, out of prison, or with self-referrals to employment. They have assisted over 10,000 working poor gain the skills and the stability that is needed to move on to better jobs. Their key program areas include job preparation, placement, and retention. Also, Towards Employment offers ongoing supportive services for up to a year after starting the job including legal assistance and customized services provided at the worksite.

Participating in this year’s silent auction is an opportunity for you to personally influence Cleveland’s productivity. The silent auction items will be diverse and vary in value from $50.00 to $2,000.00. The silent auction items include gift baskets, theatre tickets, gift cards, a night at a local hotel, and even a week at a Florida condominium, just to name a few. Panel Discussion – Corporate Social Responsibility.
We welcome Jill Rizika, Executive Director of Towards Employment, to share with us first-hand about the successes and challenges the organization experiences.

Also, as part of our program, Mike Turk of Towers Perrin will introduce the panel session by sharing how employee engagement and retention are related to Corporate Social Responsibility. Our panel presenters will help you learn how two local companies have implemented successful corporate social responsibility initiatives and the impact those initiatives have had on their employees. Joe Cannelongo – CEO, Advocare and Amy Hodous – HR Generalist, Hyland Software, will sit on the panel.

Cost is $25 for Members and $35 for Non-Members.
