IT'S ABOUT THE STRATEGIES, AND THE PEOPLE WHO IMPLEMENT THEM

Our speakers and attendees represent publishers of all sizes and niches – from Random House and HarperCollins to Tor, Chelsea Green, National Geographic and Ellora's Cave – as well as literary agents, consultants, and other allied professionals.

The educational content combined with the networking opportunities make attending Digital Book World the most worthwhile investment you'll make for your business in 2010.

Following Shiv Singh’s (Razorfish) keynote on Tuesday, Dominique Raccah (Sourcebooks) will present a progress report on the innovative vertical community, PoetrySpeaks.com; Amanda Edmonds (Google) will discuss books in “the cloud”, and Brian Napack (Macmillan) will tackle the controversial issue of piracy and eBooks.

Wednesday will begin with an exclusive first look at 1st-Round Data from BISG’s Ongoing Survey of Consumer Attitudes Toward eBook Reading. Later Raelene Gorlinsky (Ellora’s Cave) will offer insights gleaned from 10 years of being at the forefront of digital publishing, while Liza Daly (Threepress Consulting) will offer best practices for eBook creation.

The morning will conclude with a provocative panel discussion on The eBook Tipping Point, moderated by Mike Shatzkin and featuring Ken Brooks (Cengage Learning), Michael Cader (Publisher’s Lunch), Larry Kirshbaum (LJKLiterary Agency), and Evan Schnittman (Oxford University Press).

Don't get left behind!

Join your peers at Digital Book World January 26-27, 2010 at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers in New York City.

  • Writer's Digest is proud to be a media sponsor for this event. While DBW is focused on the needs of publishers and other industry players, savvy authors can learn better how to be successful by learning the key issues that now drive the business. Entrepreneurial authors who aren't afraid to publish on their own have the opportunity to get actionable advice that can impact the success of a book's marketing campaign & distribution -- all while uncovering new opportunities.

  • It is not that book publishers want to keep their heads in the sand; it is not that they are resistant or disbelieving; rather it is total non mastery of basic digital marketing and production techniques that they lack in a world that threatens to outpace change in the publishing industry. The critical issue is no knowledge nor insight, it is not seeing the opportunities or mitigating the threats, it is bolstering the strengths and mitigating the weaknesses. So, if this event delivers on its promise, publishers will inevitably come away with some key practical and achievable actions to implement.

  • I really want to attend this event but I live and work in Los Angeles and don't know if I'll be able to come to NY for this, especially with this being on a Tues/Wed. I really hope Digital Book World brings this to Los Angeles in the near future. Lots of other publishers based here beside Radical Publishing.
