Rude Mechs is proud to rebirth The Performance Groups interpretation of The Bacchae: Dionysus in 69. Directed by Richard Schechner and created collectively by the PERFORMANCE Group, Dionysus in 69 was a breakthrough performance in environmental theatre and is widely regarded as one of the germinal works of American experimental performance.

Now Rude Mechs tackles this hippie-era classic to celebrate 40 years of experimental, environmental theatre and to experience and learn about this important work in the deepest way - through performing it. The Rudes will remount this piece as faithfully as possible to the original production, using Brian de Palmas infamous film of the production as our primary source for re-staging. This production is the first-ever remounting of this legendary work.

This show runs 3 hours with one intermission. We invite you to come in the spirit of 1969 - which means you are free to wander throughout the room, sleep, leave, participate. We hope you will.
