The free event begins at 5:30 p.m. with networking and light refreshments, followed by presentations from 6:15 to 8 p.m.

Galant is a published author and former New York Times columnist. Her blog, Baristanet is recognized as the #1 “Placeblog in America” – a “new media” resource targeted at local communities. Byrne has 20 years experience in consumer magazine journalism and began the Mega Yacht News blog two years ago. The two will discuss the problems and challenges of blogging, how to identify and provide value to your target audiences, the best ways to get started in blogging, and how attract readers and make blogging profitable.

The event is open to all. Particularly welcome are those involved in communications-related pursuits who may be interested in learning more about the Association for Women in Communications (AWC), which is celebrating its 100th anniversary year. For its centennial, AWC is holding a special membership drive through December 4, 2009 offering up to 40 percent savings on membership fees. AWC offers professional development, networking and career advancement opportunities for women across a wide range of communications related fields.
