The benefits in attending an IIE Regional Conference are both professional and social - exposing students to cutting edge Industrial Engineering issues, while also providing a valuable opportunity to network with IE colleagues. Upon arrival on Thursday evening, students will begin this process in an informal setting, interacting with both other IE students and industry professionals. Friday’s activities will expose students to Industrial Engineering applications in a real world setting. In the morning, students will tour some of Madison’s most prominent companies and gain insight into the city’s many diverse industries. Friday afternoon will expose students to more academic applications of the field, as they attend the region’s annual Technical Paper Competition. Saturday, will bring hands-on learning opportunities for students via interactive Industrial Engineering workshop sessions with numerous industry experts. Then Saturday afternoon, students may choose to attend recreational activities, representing the best that Madison has to offer, or schedule interviews/informal networking discussions with the sponsors of our conference. Students are encouraged to submit their résumés prior to conference and they will be provided to sponsoring companies via our private, sponsors only, webpage. Sponsors will then have the opportunity to get in touch with possible internship or professional candidates prior to conference and schedule interviews in UW-Madison Engineering Career Services’ Interview Suites. By Saturday evening’s formal banquet, students will have gained new insight into the Industrial Engineering field and have learned new skills to apply to future endeavors. After a thought provoking keynote speaker, dinner, and awards from the various competitions, students will complete their experience by enjoying a Saturday night bowling event.
