The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is organizing an HR summit on the theme ‘Current and Future State of HR: Decisions and Directions’ on 21st Nov,2009 at its Noida Campus. The event coincides with the silver jubilee year of the inception of the institute back in 1984. The summit is being organized by the institute to promote the role HR function plays in the success of an Organization. The event is being actively supported by ONGC as sponsor and People Matters as a print media partner.

The summit would consist of two separate panel discussions on the topics ‘Role of HR in Corporate Governance’ and ‘HR Outsourcing – a source of Competitive Advantage?’ The objective of the former is to emphasize the role of HR in today’s world of Corporate Governance. The discussion would focus on the business processes, techniques of HR that can aid an organization in achieving Corporate Governance. The objective of the second session is to explore opportunities in outsourcing HR function to third party firms. Although ‘HR Outsourcing’ seems like the latest buzzword in the realm of HR domain, the panel’s seasoned experts shall debate on whether it is a source of a competitive advantage to firms. The panelists include HR domain experts from the who’s who of corporate houses such as Convergys, Hewitt Associates, HCL Technologies, NIIT, Genpact, Hero Honda, Mother Dairy, etc.

The event will have as its participants HR professionals from leading organizations in the industry, students and faculty from the IIM fraternity and other aspiring HR individuals. Each panel discussion would see knowledge transitioning happen from the industry to the academia and student & faculty expectations from academia to the industry. The discussion would be followed by a question answer session, which will provide an opportunity to audience to interact directly with the panelists. The event will be a confluence of talent from the HR industry and shall prove to be worthwhile for everyone who is associated with any HR function and /or with Corporate Governance strategies.
