On December 31, 2008 the European Commission published the implementation of GHS in the European Union, referred to widely as CLP. This Ciba Expert Services workshop offers a hands-on review of the CLP Regulation and its practical implementation for classification & labelling practitioners and others in the chemicals supply chain, who need to understand the changes and the challenges that will be faced.

• Learn about the structure of the CLP Regulation and its seven Annexes • Understand CLP and its relationship to the international criteria agreed by the United Nations • Hear about CLP and its relationship to the REACH5. • Participate in a workshop on classification & labelling rules and their interpretation, supported by hands-on practical exercises covering C&L of substances and mixtures. • Find out how the proposed regulation takes over provisions of the REACH Regulation. • Interest in the UN GHS will extend up and down the chemical supply chain from raw material supplier to retailer – hence non EU GHS regulations will be important to importers and exporters and similarities but also differences will be closely looked at. • The workshop will provide valuable learning for a wide variety of product safety practitioner’s involved in the generation, communication and interpretation of C&L information • The preparation of safety data sheets, product labelling, corporate health & safety practises, etc. will also be affected and topic of interest. • The workshop is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with and interpretation of the CLP Regulation together with an understanding of the contrasts with the current EU / UK regulations for classification & labelling for supply.
