Most strategy courses provide participants with insights into one or more stages and models: analysis of the internal and external environment, planning, implementation and control. It is our view, that these models are useful but need to be complemented when confronted with qualitatively new challenges such as the present global finance and economic crisis. This training course addresses this issue by fostering authentic strategic thinking “beyond recipes”.
The ability to generate new insights is closely correlated to the number and diversity of available thought-patterns and the ability to recombine and modify them effortlessly. Thought-patterns are cognitive frames that we utilize when addressing complex issues. During this 5-day course participants will be familiarized with the most relevant and fascinating thought-patterns from biology, physics, neuroscience and psychology and will learn to modify these in a business context.
As a byproduct of familiarizing the participants with the various thought-patterns, neuroscience and psychology will provide insights into the “mechanisms” of strategic thinking. Exposure to the thought-patterns from physics and evolutionary biology will foster the understanding of structural transformations and structural adaptiveness.
In summary the course objectives are to:
Increase the attendees’ understanding of the inherent strengths and weaknesses of their own strategic thought processes.
Familiarize the participants with a broad spectrum of thought-patterns and apply lessons learned from the fields of physics, neuroscience and evolutionary biology.
Deconstruct and recompose these thought-patterns and learn how to apply them to strategic thinking in business.
