This workshop offers hands-on training on basic statistical techniques provided by Statistics Canada in collaboration with the National Aboriginal Health Organization. Topics include:

• frequencies
• percentages
• means, medians and modes
• growth rates

The session will be tailored to the needs of the staff of the Nunastiavut Government to use statistics. It provides basic skills to explore and use data on the Statistics Canada website, particularly the Aboriginal Peoples Survey (2006).

A special OPTIONAL session on Saturday afternoon is for participants interested in assiating in the Naasautit: Inuit Health Statistics project and will be scheduled during hours as determined by the group. This group will review and assess models of Web site design of the future  www.naasautit.ca Web site. Participants will receive supper from NAHO for their participation in this audience research.

Participants from Naasautit, the Nunatsiauvut Government, Jens Haven Memorial School, and Nain community organizations, have priority for attending this event. The workshop is free. Particpants are responsible for their own travel, accomodations and meals.
