This lively and interactive program will focus on two main themes: Social website dangers for unwary employers and the best practices for addressing and responding to employee's off-duty conduct.

Unwary employers face challenges every time they use the internet or a social website, such as Facebook or LinkedIn, to conduct background checks on applicants, investigate current employees, or base employment decisions on information found on the internet. Attendees will learn about the potential legal risks to using social networking sites and/or websites as the basis for hiring, discipline or termination decisions, and whether “Google-ing” is a good thing in the world of employee relations.

But social networking sites and blogs are not the only dangers for employers. Other off-duty conduct by employees can be equally challenging to deal with – even if you’re not looking for it. Attendees will learn how to address employee conduct that occurs after-hours or away from the work site, where to draw the line, and the potential legal consequences.

The $10 admission fee includes a two-hour program, breakfast, and seminar materials.
