Scope of Symposium:

Materials Science-based or Mechanics-based modeling methods employed at size scales less than 1 micron. Solicited abstracts must address some aspect of small scale mechanical behavior of materials. Examples include:

-Atomistic simulation of the mechanical response of nanostructured materials, including models that capture how dislocations form and interact in a deforming body.

-Deformation driven dislocation dynamics simulations. Specifically, simulations and models that focus on dislocation interactions with grain boundaries and free surfaces.

-Modeling and simulations designed for improved understanding and interpretation of small scale mechanical behavior experiments, e.g. nanoindentation.

-Simulation methods that bridge atomic and continuum length and time scales.
