  • Why do all the YPG events cost extra for members when the other SIGs and regionals don't? North London Branch even went under budget without charging.

  • Hi Chris, Thank you for your comment. We at the YPG try to optimise our work in a way that allows us to provide as many members as we can with high quality events throughout the year, and that of course can be costly at times. What we charge attendees is only to cover direct costs such as catering and logistics. Members of BCS (especially students) are given priority when it comes to pricing, and that is also partially dependent on the expected number of attendees for each event. With over 23,000 members including many regional representatives to cater for, we always invest in different programmes and initiatives that sometimes require extra funding. We do hold events where entry is free-of-charge, and that is often the case where overheads are minimal. I hope that that answered your question. If not, please feel free to contact us directly and I am more than happy to get into details. Thank you Mohammed Abbas Treasurer, BCS Young Professionals Group
