The IT/BPO Industry in Sri Lanka has grown at an impressive rate over the last few years and is currently a USD $250 Million industry. In the last AT Kearney Global Services Location Index for outsourcing, published in June this year, Sri Lanka rose from 29th in 2007 to 16th position in 2009 and we intend to get to the top ten in this index by the next report and seal our position as a ‘destination of choice’ for outsourcing.

The industry has been identified as a thrust industry by the EDB and SLASSCOM the IT/BPO industry Chamber in Sri Lanka has set an ambitious target of achieving USD $1 Billion by 2012. Given that we need to record exponential growth over the next few years to achieve this goal, we would like to invite you, the Sri Lanka Diaspora to play an active role and contribute to the success of the Industry and the Country.

SLASSCOM is taking a key initiative to establish links with the Sri Lanka Diaspora who hold key decision making and senior management positions in organizations globally.

The primary objective for forging such links would be:

• Create awareness about IT/BPO industry and opportunities in Sri Lanka
• Build Sri Lankan IT/BPO industry brand
• Encourage Diaspora to act as brand ambassadors for the industry
• Promote business – introductions, market access, outsourcing, joint ventures, captives, venture capital, technical collaboration

We seek your active support in nominating key persons from your contact base who could champion the cause of promoting Sri Lankan IT and BPO industries. Such individuals would be:

• CXO and senior management level Sri Lankan expatriates across major industries
• Sri Lankan academics at recognized institutions
• Sri Lankans working in senior positions in state/public sector
• Sri Lankans in senior positions in multilateral/donor agencies
