Speaker Profile: Ron Budreau An honours graduate in Business Administration and Computer Science Ron spent two and half decades as an entrepreneur; creating, building and ultimately selling three successful software companies before retiring in 2006. In 2008 Ron came out of retirement to join the Microsoft Dynamics team as a Business Coach and Partner Account Manager. Ron is currently a Director on the Brant County Power Services Board and is Chairman of their Finance and Audit Committee. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Click Connect; a not-for-profit organization connecting high school business classes with business organizations across the globe via video conferencing. He is a Certified Fitness Instructor and regularly teaches fitness classes at the local Xtreme Fitness gym. He is the recipient of Conestoga Colleges highest achievement award the ‘Alumnus of Distinction’ for his outstanding academic, career and community volunteerism achievements and in 2008 he accepted the role of President of their Alumni Association. An accomplished writer Ron was the founder of the bi-monthly editorial ‘Horizon Lines’ in the world’s oldest, continuously published magazine; ‘Municipal World’. He writes on a wide range of topics including: government, the environment and technology with such articles as - ‘The Greying of Government’, ‘Water, going, going ... gone’, ‘Techno-Trash’ and ‘Qubits’. A regular guest speaker at conferences across North America he was most recently a guest lecturer at the Schulich School of Business at York University and he delivered two keynotes at the AMCTO annual general meeting in Niagara Falls entitled; “Are you a ‘SERVE’ing Leader or a Self-Serving Leader” and “Retirement, don’t do it!”. An avid hiker and traveler with a thirst for new knowledge you will regularly find Ron off the beaten track somewhere in the world reading a couple of good books along the way. Ron lives in the lovely town of Paris-ON with his beautiful wife Diana, and their two teenagers Katherine and Scott.
