Projects do not always go as planned. Some get significantly out of control before gaining management's attention and action is taken. While there are models for addressing troubled projects, managing one presents unique challenges. This presentation will review a typical troubled project recovery model, additional approaches that have worked for the author, and how the risk management process fits into the recovery effort.

Speaker Bio: Craig D. Peterson, PMP, has over 20 years of PM experience, including software development, system integration, and new product development (two resulting in patents). Mr. Peterson earned his undergraduate degree from the US Coast Guard Academy and an MBA from George Mason University. He received his PMP in 1993 and has worked with the Washington DC PMI Chapter Education & Certification Committee as the Risk Management Instructor for the past 16 years. Mr. Peterson is completing his fifth term as the President of PMI's Risk Management SIG, a global organization of 2300+ individuals advancing the art and science of risk management. He has authored and presented several papers at various PMI Seminar/Symposiums on Risk Management & Critical Chain. Finally, he is also a retired Captain from the US Coast Guard Reserve.
