The shift from Self Employment to Business Owner is difficult to achieve, but it's necessary at some point if the company is going to continue growing beyond the natural limits of the founder. The shift can be characterized as more like a grand leap rather than a natural evolution, as it requires the entrepreneur to set aside some of the habitual tools that brought them success in the early going (total control, etc.) and trade in those tools in for others. The shift is required for long-term, sustainable profitability, but many entrepreneurs - perhaps most - are unable to successfully make the leap.
