BIBA Evening Meeting: An Evening of Life Sciences

The theme for the evening will be Life Sciences. Anupendra Sharma, partner at Siemens Venture Capital investing in healthcare (devices, diagnostics, software and services), will open up the evening with a discussion on his work with two Massachusetts organizations that he helped found that are geared towards helping start ups in Life Sciences and Technology.
Massachusetts Life Sciences Initiative (MALSI) - http://mastartups.blogspot.com - MALSI brings together all public and private groups in MA to improve the start-up ecosystem in life sciences through a series of initiatives. Anupendra founded the organization in 2007.
The Leadership Program - www.startupleadership.com – The mission with this organization is to groom the next generation of startup CEO's and create a network that will have a significant impact on the global economy and community in the coming decades.
Frank Reynolds will follow with a presentation on his work as CEO of emerging Medical Device Company, Invivo Therapeutics. InVivo has received numerous awards including $500,000 from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center as part of MLSC’s Accelerator Loan Program.
Jon Mahoney (former Director of Life Sciences for the Massachusetts Office of Business Development) will moderate the event and questions will be taken from the audience.

About Anupendra Sharma: Anupendra Sharma is Partner at Siemens Venture Capital in Boston, investing in healthcare (devices, diagnostics, software and services). Prior to Siemens, Anupendra was an investment banker at JPMorgan and Citigroup, and was part of the team that set up Ford in India and China. He co-founded Mobile Medics, named the Most Innovative Social Venture of 2006 by the Global Social Venture Competition, which was taken over by Piramal Healthcare to form eSwasthya. Mobile Medics was the subject of an hour-long documentary by Japan Broadcasting Corporation. Anupendra also started a shrimp farm in Belize, Central America. He founded The Leadership Program to groom the next generation of startup CEOs, the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at BITS Pilani, and started of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Startup Initiative (MALSI) to accelerate the pace of startups in the Commonwealth. Anupendra holds an MBA from Cornell University, MS in Accounting & Finance from Manchester Business School, Masters in Economics and Bachelors in Instrumentation Engineering from BITS Pilani, India.
