Our 1st tweetup of the year is going to be hosted by @NakedCityLV to benefit a local non profit here in Las Vegas - Southern Nevada Children First. Naked City Pizzeria is a Buffalo, NY style Pizzeria inside Moon Doggie's Bar serving the most authentic western new york pizza and those famous chicken wings. I first met Monique Harris 2 years ago and as a mother (with a couple of teenage girls) I was so moved by the size of her heart. You see Monique and her partner mentor and provide teenage girls who find themselves homeless and pregnant a place to live. Without support, knowledge and resources, these young ladies are forced to live on the streets. Did you know that in Clark County Nevada that on any given day there are over 300 unaccompanied homeless youth alone? Without someone to guide them, care for them or provide for them, they become extremely venerable to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain, participate in survival sex and prostitution for shelter, food and protection or hide there situation hoping it will go away. With your support, Southern Nevada Children First, can provide a safe place for these young ladies and their babies. Southern Nevada Children First efforts are achieved by providing various programs and services. Southern Nevada Children First concerns itself primarily with the provision of safe environments, in which youth are supported through mentoring, advocacy, education, counseling and intensive case management. In addition, youth benefit from a host of activities designed to foster positive youth engagement. How can you help?
