Incentive2innovate is very important. But there are plenty of innovations out there just waiting for financing. Before anything, we should innovate on how the government and industry work. How lobbyists are influencing the government decision, and why it is shrouded in secrecy? In many instances the projects, which are financed, if looked at them from close, don’t deserve to be financed in first place… not by governments anyway. If it is not a scam, and it is based on sound scientific theory, public would like to know about it, and know about all lobbying that is going on. I think it should be made public, after all it is financed with public money. If lobbying can’t be done in public, - that may be an indication that something is being hidden from the public eye. If some businesses are lobbying against the financing of some projects because it could harm their products, - that should be public as well. As long as we do not solve these problems, superefficient cars will never become reality, as they cut into the demand for raw materials and fuel. PAX-Prize is a noble cause, - and publicity the race will give to many teams, and especially waking up the public awareness could be phenomenal… I truly hope that will happen. As we all know, “it is much cheaper to save the energy than to supply it” if I may quote Amory Lovins from RMI. Politicians don’t understand that? Something must be wrong somewhere… Mark
I am currently building Home Free Organization. Home Free Organization is a non-profit initiative to eradicate homelessness in urban environments through the provision of free wireless internet, social networking and resource allotment. We take donated bread trucks which have come off route and add donated computers and hardware to create mobile wireless access hubs for homeless individuals to utilize for finding family, jobs, resources and ways off the street. The goal is simple: Provide a resource for the homeless which will allow them to find ways off the street. Of course there are many who prefer the streets to a 9-5 and home life, but for those who are stuck and cannot find there way, Home Free will provide the tools to try. We give every visitor an email address to be used for networking and contact.
