Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Tour de Broward
February 27, 2011 at 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Miramar Regional Park, Miramar
Our Goal
World-class Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital will feature 40,000 square feet dedicated to treating children diagnosed with cancer. This year all proceeds from the Tour de Broward will be applied to this area of the hospital, also known as the “Dreams” unit. Our goal is to raise $275,000 to help accommodate the needs of this very special unit of our new facility.
Construction is well underway for the new four –story 160,000 square foot Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, which is scheduled to open for patients in the summer of 2011. The elevated walkway connecting the existing children’s hospital facilities and Memorial Regional Hospital with the new children’s hospital is currently constructed. From throughout our community and around the world, children in need of medical care come to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to receive leading-edge care from our superbly trained doctors. Our medical staff has grown from 72 pediatric physicians at our opening in 1992 to 476 today. Clearly, a new and expanded Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is needed to care for the increasing number of families with children who turn to us at their time of need.
