Plunge with City of Bristol College
September 22, 2010 at 8:00 AM - September 24, 2010 at 5:00 PM
Bristol University Students Union, Clifton, Bristol
The Plunge is a 3-day enterprise event aimed at raising the aspirations of students, building their confidence and ultimately making them more employable once they take the big step from education into the world of work. There is going to be 350 students and 54 business experts taking part.
The students are put through an intense series of hands-on workshops on the first two days in different areas of business from Operations to Finance, HR to Sales and Marketing.
On the third and final day we bring in local business people who are experts in their field to help develop the students’ ideas further. They are put through a series of 12-minute meetings on different areas of business, where the students have to take on board the experts’ advice to help them to prepare for their presentations. The ‘dragons’ then come together to form a panel of judges and the students then pitch their ideas to the panel. It is run as a competition so the experts decide who wins a cash prize!
The Working Knowledge Group has been running Enterprise-events for six years now. Over 8,000 students from 100 different FE and HE institutions have participated in our events supported by over 1500 business experts. In 2008 we won the UK Skills National Training Award in recognition of our innovative approach to bridging the gap between education and the workplace!
