Product Management Lunch: Product Management vs. Project Management
October 26, 2011 at 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill, Creve Coeur
This is a lunch meeting for the St. Louis Product Management Group. This is an informal gathering; we don't have reservations or a separate room, though we usually grab a big table in the back.
The start time for this meeting will hopefully avoid the lunch crowd: Arrive by 12:30pm so you can order start the discussion by 12:45pm or so, and we usually break up by 2pm.
There is no presentation, no discussion leader. The purpose is to allow you to meet up with other Product Managers and "talk shop." To help guide (or at least start) the discussion, I'll try and provide a general topic. For this month...
TOPIC: Product Management vs. Project Management -- The distinction between these two disciplines is commonly misunderstood, even among product managers and project managers. How much project management are you responsible for? How do you work effectively with project managers?
WHAT TO BRING: Required: money for lunch. Optional: Information to share; questions to ask others; business cards; something to take notes on
If you want more of an opportunity for informal discussion, this should be just the event for you. It's an opportunity to meet other product managers, learn, share, and have some good food -- and it will probably be one of the most productive and beneficial meetings you'll have all day!
