Twenty-Two (a new play based on a true story)
January 8, 2010 at 8:00 PM - January 30, 2010 at 8:00 PM
Knightsbridge Theatre, Los Angeles
In a bold and daring move, the Knightsbridge Theatre is kicking off its 17th season with the World Premiere of “Twenty-Two,” a new play based on the true story of a young woman’s cathartic downfall into cocaine addiction, opening January 8, 2010. Nothing ever changes for Leila and her circle of so-called friends: sex, drugs, more drugs and...punk-hop? Their days and nights revolve around cocaine – getting high, coming down, and doing anything to get more. But nothing lasts forever, and when the drugs run out or stop working, they are forced to confront what they’ve so desperately been trying to avoid – life. “Twenty-Two” explores a new realm of theatre, with the audience seated on stage, the story literally unfolds at your feet and brings you into the world of the play, making for a more “real” experience that is not easily forgotten. “Twenty-Two” runs Friday, January 8 through Saturday, January 30, 2010. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $10. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted due to adult themes such as language, drug use, partial nudity, sexual behavior and some violence. The Knightsbridge Theatre is located at 1944 Riverside Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90039, near the 2 and 5 freeways. For reservations, call 323.667.0955 or visit www.knightsbridgetheatre.com. Stephen Pain (Zoosemiotics) . I think one should see this play as it deals with contemporary issues that are of great importance to society. Recreational and fashion drug use is one of the most insidious elements in young adult culture - it was glamourized in the 1980's, condemned in the 90's, and now in the 21st century it has been in part ignored. However the number of young people addicted to hard drugs through use of recreational drugs and fashion drugs (like cocaine)is high.
